Russia’s famous city of St. Petersburg becomes the backdrop of a stunning photography series in which cityscape photos appear like old oil painting as flowing rain drops cover the lens of the camera, distorting colours, diffusing light and sometimes completely blurring and obscuring subjects.
The photo are taken by St. Petersburg-based Russian photographer Eduard Gordeev and resemble fine art Impressionist oil paintings. Most of the photos you see below are taken in Gordeev’s home city of St. Petersburg, capturing its most famous landmarks in a unique and obscure way. Nobody really likes rail all that much, it’s normally quite the inconvenience, but Gordeev’s work goes a long way to changing all of that with his moody and almost romantic photos.
