Do you often find yourself trying to remember where you kept you your phone or your keys? Does trying to remember that password drive you crazy sometimes? What about the time you forgot your friend’s birthday?
Well, if the answer to all these questions is a resounding ‘yes’ then you might have to work on it.
We’ve all been the victims of faulty memory, left grasping for information we know is there to no avail. It becomes tiring for the brain too when you try and recall the name of the co-worker who told you something yesterday. Makes you want to pull out your hair?
But almost everything problem in this world comes with a solution. And, so, here’s a list of simple tricks you can try to keep your brain sharp.
1. Carry a little notebook with you so you can write down the tasks you need to complete.
Go the traditional way. Carry a pen along with the little notepad. And try not to forget this, too. Note this down first.
2. Set a reminder for the important things.
We all have phones that can do much more than adding numbers or sending messages to our friends on WhatsApp.
3. Get into the habit of staying mentally active most of the time. Play Sudoku or learn something new in your free time.
Learning something new every day never hurt anyone.
4. Eat less added sugar.
Research has shown that a sugar-laden diet can lead to poor memory and reduced brain volume, particularly in the area of the brain that stores short-term memory.
5. Socialise regularly.
Social interaction helps ward off depression and stress, both of which can contribute to memory loss.
