What you’re seeing isn’t photoshopped, this rare white 15-month-old giraffes skin really does look like it’s been bleached. The giraffe is in fact suffering from a rare condition called leucism that causes a partial loss of pigmentation in the skin. Spotted in the Tarangire National Park in Tanzania by founder of the Wild Nature Institue, Dr Derek Lee, the giraffe now named Omo appears to be getting along just find with the rest of her group who seem to accept her despite her obvious differences. The Institute is working with others to ensure the safety and conservation of giraffes. We hope that Omo and her family live a long and happy life!
