A new trick has been circulating among gif creators that allows them to create animated images with a convincing 3D aspect.
The trick is simple but deceptive ? these gifs? creators use white lines to split the images into 3 panels. That way, elements of the animated images can ?pop? out of the frame in front of the white lines and toward the viewer. The trick works because the white lines establish a clear reference point for the foreground, or ?screen,? if you?d like to think of it that way. Once the action in the image seems to pass in front of those white lines, our brain is fooled into thinking that the action has moved out in front of the foreground.
