A few month back I was lying in bed with the idea of a book themed bedroom in my head. I hardly slept that night because of all the ideas I had. I drew the pictures up the next day and tried finding more and more ideas. I had the idea of it all in my head but my brother Daniel Wright helped to put it all into perspective for me and helped to figure out how to link all my images into one big image. So I owe Daniel a massive thank you.
My daughter is 2 years old and the loveliest little girl ever but of course I?m going to say that I am her mum. But she really is. She loves thinking she can read books. She sits there with a book upside down and babbles to herself. We can?t understand a word she says but in Chloe?s head it makes sense to her and that?s all that matters.
My brother now paints people rooms as a business. They are always lovely but the problem is the children soon get bored and want something else and quite often he has been called back a few years later to redo it. I didn?t want this. I wanted something that was timeless, something that will help mould her into the amazing little girl that I already know she is, something to send her imagination into overdrive and something that will encourage her to want to pick up a book and read. I believe together we have achieved this and it has turned out so much better than I imagined it in my head.
A few month back I was lying in bed with the idea of a book themed bedroom in my head
I wanted to create a timeless room for my daughter, who is now 2-years-old
She loves thinking she can read books. She is having a few learning difficulties and has only just started walking. There is no denying she is a very clever girl but just struggling in different areas
It does not worry me as I know she is her own little person and is just going at her own pace
So this is where I got the idea for her toy box. I absolutely love the quote, it sums Chloe up all in one
I decided to paint the door in the style of a book. I wanted the idea that the door is the book cover and as you open the door you are opening the book to the amazing stories that unfold inside the room
There are over 90 books on the wall and there is space for more for when Chloe gets older and chooses her favorite books that I can then paint on top
I want Chloe to be able to point characters out to me and ask me who they are. I will then be able to get out the book and read it to her
I don?t have all the books yet but every time I see one that is on her wall I add it to the colection
I have acquired a lot in charity shops as everything I have done in this room is on a budget from the furniture to the bed sheets
I also made a patchwork quilt using lots of pieces of Dr Seuss material. This took many hours, but is something I?m hoping she can pass down to her children as well as the Roald Dahl cushions
This room has already helped my daughter as she points to characters and does the animal noises
The room is not just for children but for adults as well
