4. Chubu Centrair International Airport, Tokoname, Japan
This is the second airport in Japan built on a manmade island. It is made in the shape of a rounded ‘D’ so as to enable strong water currents to flow freely. The landing approach is a little scary as there’s water all around the island and it appears that the flight is landing directly on the sea.
